TIFFANY DOWNING – Hypnotist and Somatics Practitioner.

Hi! I’m Tiffany Downing, a Certified Professional Hypnotist, Certified Somatics Therapy Facilitator, and Licensed Massage Therapist. I was trained and certified in professional hypnosis by Leah Agami and the ICBCH (International Certification Board of Coaches and Hypnotists), in Somatics Therapy by Kaira Maestra and Somastery, and in Massage Therapy at BSMI Institute. I began my career as a massage therapist in 2004 with the goal of helping people live better lives. I believe self-care is a MUST in today’s busy world.

After years of practicing massage therapy full-time and running a very busy practice, I started searching for a way to continue to help people heal that would put less stress on my body. That’s when I discovered my new found passion and love for hypnosis.

I have been fascinated by the human mind since my first high school human behavior class and continued learning about psychology in college. It wasn’t until I had my own hypnotherapy experience that I realized just how powerful and life-changing hypnosis truly is. It was in that moment, while hypnotized, that I knew I wanted to help other people tap into the power of their subconscious mind and access their own inner healer. I realized that hypnosis was my next career path. With my innate understanding of the body, and my education and training in hypnosis and the human mind, this shift made perfect sense. I found the perfect way to combine both of my passions, as the body and mind are inherently connected.

Then I discovered Somatics Therapy and found it is the perfect complement to hypnosis. Somatics blends my love and knowledge of the human body and the human mind in a way that fits perfectly into my practice and is helping my clients make some huge shifts and changes!

As of June 3, 2024, after 20 years, I have officially retired from Massage Therapy and I am a full-time Hypnotist and Somatics Therapy Facilitator.

My main focuses are stress and anxiety relief, relaxation, mental and emotional block removal, grief, trauma, fears, inner child healing, and increased confidence. However, I do not limit myself to these areas of practice.

I enjoy working with all ages, including children, and I tailor each session based on my client’s specific goals, needs and challenges, meaning no two sessions are alike.

Hypnosis and Somatics

When most people think of hypnosis, the first thing that pops into their minds is someone clucking like a chicken on a stage. While that is absolutely an example of hypnosis from a stage show perspective, what happens in a clinical setting is much different. You won’t do or say anything embarrassing, and you can’t be convinced to do or say anything that goes against your morals and ethics. You have total control over your experience, and if, for any reason, you want or need to come out of hypnosis, all you have to do is open your eyes. Hypnosis is a state of lower brainwave activity that we all experience every day as we wake up from sleep in the morning and as we drift off to sleep at night. It’s that relaxed place between awake and asleep. It’s a state of magnified focus and concentration where you can access the subconscious mind and create powerful and lasting change. The reason hypnosis is so powerful and effective is because it bypasses the conscious, critical mind and allows the subconscious mind to emerge, making you more receptive to positive change and suggestions.

Somatics Therapy ties in beautifully with hypnosis. It regulates the nervous system by bringing awareness to the ways we respond to life. Somatics helps to shift old patterns of behavior, habits, and reactions to trauma that no longer serve a beneficial purpose. You can think of somatics as a conversation that allows the conscious mind to speak to the subconscious mind, and instead of words, it uses focus on the five channels of awareness that we all experience life through; The Mind, The Imagination, The Body, Inner Sensations, and The Emotions.
